Lincoln Highway Radio Show
Over 48 Stations from Coast to Coast
NBC Red Network

The Lincoln Highway Radio Show
ran for a little over two years
and was sponsored by Hecker Products Corporation,
makers of Shinola Shoe polish.

Master of Ceremonies: John T. McIntire.
Writers: Jack Hasty, Brian Byrne, Ed Sherry, David Victor & Herbert Little, Jr.
Directors: Maurice Lowell, Don Cope & Theodora Yates.
Theme Song: God's Country and Lincoln Highway.

The show premiered March 16, 1940 on WEAF,
the NBC Red Network Flagship Station in New York
and was carried "Coast to Coast" on over 48 stations.(1)

In April of 1941,
The New York Times reported
NBC had renewed contracts with 75 stations
to continue broadcasts through the summer.(2)

The show aired at 10am until May 3, 1941 then moved to 11 am.
At least 8 stations broadcast at 12 noon and then presumably at 1pm.
Several West Coast stations broadcast at 9 am then moved to 10am,
while KSD in St. Louis moved the show to 8 am for a several months
before switching back to the original 9 am schedule.

Production and advertising was handled by Benton & Bowles,
a well known Ad Agency in New York and supervised by
Radio-TV Director & Producer Lindsay MacHarrie.(3)

The Show attracted many of Hollywood's Biggest Stars,
and according to The New York Times,
was "practically an automatic stop" for those playing
the Eastern guest-star circuit at $500 per episode.(4)

After 117 shows the program ended on June 6, 1942.(5)
